More money for Buffalo's biggest buildings…

… and the DL&W is on the list.

Buffalo has never been short of extraordinary historic buildings. What it has consistently lacked is the financial architecture to bring the largest of them back to life.

That may be changing. On March 30, New York State Senator April N.M. Baskin introduced legislation that would triple the cap on the state's Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit (taking it from $5 million to $15 million) for what she has termed the state's "white elephants,” or historic buildings that are very large in scale, have been vacant for years, and require more than $50 million to rehabilitate.

The companion bill, A10366, was introduced by Assemblymember Pamela Hunter (D-Syracuse).
